Week 11
7.5 hours
Monday
Description
Megan is not in the office this week but left clear instructions on what I will be doing this week. I was assigned the job of a research project. This means that a faculty member requested articles that they were mentioned in. I had to flip through 7 binders worth of media scans and recorded articles that this faculty member was mentioned in. It was a tedious task, but it will be easier now that I can use excel to search his name in the next step of the project. I also put up events for the signboard today.
Reflection
I feel good after my shift today because even though Megan wasn’t there, Gaby and I were very on top of things and things were running very smoothly. Wednesday should run smoothly as well. This research project seems interesting, but is a lot of work. I am excited to be able to gain this experience and have this as "my own" project.
Wednesday
Description
Today I continued to work on my research project on Jeff Schoyen for the entirety of my shift except for one break to put up the sign board. I had trouble putting up the sign board because I ran out of letters, but I figured out what would fit and what wouldn't.
Reflection
This is different than what my peers are working on and I am happy that i get to have this experience. I think that having this as my own "thing" is definitely a benefit because it is letting me take a step back from normal tasks. Although flipping through all of these binders is not the most interesting task in the world, it is still a good experience.
